Winter Fun

Monday we had an incredible snowfall. Just last week it was looking like we only had a few more days until the last remaining snow patches around the yard would be gone for good. We were starting to think about gardens and yardwork and bringing the bikes back up to the garage. Then Monday morning we woke up to over a foot of snow on the ground with no sign of stopping anytime soon. By the time it finally did stop late Monday night we had 20 inches of gorgeous, fresh powder outside. This was the kind of snow that brings tears to the eyes of skiers everywhere. The kids had so much fun playing in it and I was VERY grateful again for Matt's snowblower! Here are a few pictures from last month when Matt took Nicole, Spencer and Paige ice fishing. They had a great time but as you can see from the last picture, the little ones were through well before Dad was!

And last of all, I thought I would throw in this picture of Claire. She has learned to pull herself up to anything that will hold still for more than 5 seconds. Such a happy girl!!

Ski Bunnies

Matt and his mom took Nicole and Corinne skiing last Saturday. They loved it!! This was Nicole's second time this year and Corinne's first. It was a gorgeous, sunny day and Corinne came home with the cutest racoon face. Nicole gets to go again in a few weeks with the 5th grade. She's very excited to ski with all of her friends. Matt hadn't been on skis in over 12 years but it must be like riding a bike. I'm looking forward to joining them next year when Claire and I aren't so inseparable.

Valentine's Tea

Each year for Valentine's Day the PTA hosts a Valentine's Tea for all of the grades. The kids wear best dress to school and use their best manners eating punch and cookies, followed by a partners dance that they learned in P.E. It is high stress around here for a few days leading up to the tea with all the worry of "what boy will they make me dance with?". It's a fun tradition! Paige's tea was the day before since they start the kindergarteners off easy, so I didn't get her picture, but she had a great time too!

She's mobile!

Well cute little Claire wasted no time in learning how to crawl. It's just a little bit scary for me to see how determined she is. That combined with her endless energy could prove interesting over the years. When Nicole was this age and had all this energy, I just thought that it was so cute. Now, as I watch Claire, I just cringe! Okay....it's pretty cute on her too!

Sorry that the video is so dark. I was just trying to catch her when I could!

True Blue Aggies

Thursday night we took the whole family to the USU game. The kids have been looking forward to it for weeks. Spencer especially just kept talking about going the the basketball game to see Big Blue! It was a great game as the Ags beat Nevada thanks to a great run in the 2nd half that made the crowd go completely wild! As was reported in one paper, "it was possibly the loudest it has gotten--and that's saying something--in several years". Those of you who are familiar with the Spectrum know what that means! Nicole, Corinne, Spencer and Claire loved it and were screaming right along with everyone, but Paige sat cross-legged on her chair and covered her ears. It was a lot of fun and the kids can't wait 'til next year!

Where's the Beef?

Matt shot an elk 2 weeks ago, so last Saturday we spent the day butchering it. It was like CSI: Wellsville in our kitchen. The girls all fought over who got to run the meat grinder, but Spencer wanted nothing to do with it! I wish I had gotten a picture when they were all working hard but it was so crazy I didn't even think to grab the camera. This is later when interest had waned and Nicole was the only one sticking it out with us. It was a long day but now, 75 pounds later, our freezer is full again!
